January is Blueberry Bear Month

Updated: Jan 11, 2019

Blueberry Bear Tales is dedicating the month of January to Jamie, the inspiration behind Blueberry Bear. Jamie passed away on January 17, 2017.

A cool Blueberry Bear.

November 2011, we adopted Jamie as a senior (7ish years young). For those of you who didn’t have the opportunity to meet Jamie, let me tell you a little about her….

Let's go for a walk.

Jamie (aka Blueberry Bear) loved swimming and digging, picnics, local vintage car shows, trips to Sedona, book signings and library visits, and she was a foodie lover.

Jamie was a gentle loving soul who touched hundreds of lives, especially children’s. Her beauty, deep amber eyes, and sweet disposition were magnetic. All Jamie wanted was to be loved, and yet, she gave so much of herself.

In 2013 Jamie became a registered therapy dog. As a therapy team, we visited libraries where Jamie helped children enhance their reading skills. On the other paw, Jamie was my inspiration for writing Blueberry Bear, a talent I never thought of pursuing.

From a young abused stray with four pups to therapy dog to my inspiration, Jamie lived a true rags-to-riches fairy tale life. She is one of many perfect examples on how rescues fulfill lives in wondrous ways. Through Blueberry Bear, Jamie will always be remembered and loved.
